Around 100,000 chemical substances are found on the Danish market. Despite large efforts, chemicals exert today a considerable pressure on the external environment and human health.
The participation of the Dogme municipalities in the Life project includes the preparation of a chemicals plan. A plan that will support the efforts made by citizens, enterprises and the municipality to reduce chemicals consumption. The results of the plan will be included in the Dogme manual, which will contain a number of concrete tools and instruments to reduce chemicals consumption within the three target groups. Focus will be on preventive activities, regulation and cooperation between municipality, citizens and enterprises.
In the beginning of the project period indicators will be designated for the statement of chemicals consumption and a knowledge gathering will be conducted. In 2005 the first draft plan was ready and in 2006 all ten proposed activities has been tested in the Dogme municipalities. With offset in the subsequent evaluations and experiences gained in the project period, the plan will be ready during summer 2007.
